El secreto será la característica de la "nueva guerra" de EE.UU.

un secreto sin precedentes, que implicará, entre otras cosas, fuertes restricciones sobre la
prensa, dijeron fuentes del Pentágono. Los planes de una posible acción militar han sido
"divididos en muchas secciones" para garantizar que la menor cantidad de gente posible tiene
acceso a ellos, indicaron las fuentes. Según funcionarios del Pentágono, el gobierno del

Lecciones de la guerra soviética en Afganistán

ultimatum to Iraq's Saddam Hussein through his friend, Yemeni President Ali Salah,
according to a report by the intelligence news service Debka-Net-Weekly. The ultimatum?
Get your forces out of Syria and Jordan or else.... The focus of Franks' Mideast trip shifted
from concerns about the Israeli-Palestinian dispute to threatening moves by Iraqi military
forces....Franks’ next stop was Cairo, where he landed last Saturday for a discussion of
the forthcoming U.S. operation against Iraq with Egyptian defense minister Gen. Tantawi
and Egyptian army chiefs. Both the Jordanian and the Egyptian army chiefs received a
strong impression of U.S. determination. Should Iraq invoke its secret defense treaties
with Syria and move air, armored and missile units across the frontier, the United States
will not hesitate to bombard them, meaning that an American offensive against Iraq may

JERUSALEM — Israeli sources said military intelligence has drafted a report that warns of the
increasing likelihood of regional war in 2002. The report said the war could be sparked by either
an Israeli offensive against the Palestinian Authority or an escalation in tension along Israel's
border with Lebanon. It was the first time that a military report raised the likelihood of war over
the next year. Earlier assessments by military intelligence maintained that such countries as

and international studies states that Israel would not be able to repel a comprehensive
surprise attack from the Arab nations for a prolonged period of time.....Intelligence

400 nuclear warheads. The study determines that Russia and China are Iran's main
sources for weaponry. With regards to Syria, the study estimates that last year the
Syrian army tested a Scud D missile with a 600-kilometer range. It was noted that
according to information held by the United States Central Intelligence Agency, Egypt
"has not given up its plans" to develop a ballistic missile, called "Victor" with a
1,200 kilometer range. The editors of the study points out that unconventional weapons
are the greatest danger in the region, saying that Iran will be able to develop a
nuclear bomb in the next five years. Syria, the study states, will be able to produce
bombs containing anthrax, a type of biological warfare, which according to the study,
has an effect similar to that of a small nuclear warhead. The study concludes

Israel War Plan Revealed

CBS) Israeli generals are planning for a possible massive invasion of
Palestinian territories if the current Mideast cease-fire fails, says a published
report denied by Israeli officials. The report, published by the Jane's Information
Group in London, says the goal of the action would be to destroy Palestinian
armed forces and the Palestinian Authority, forcing Chairman Yasser Arafat
back into exile, as he was for 12 years after the 1982 Israeli invasion of Lebanon....
Israel's Arab neighbors, Syria, Jordan and Egypt are expected to stay
out of the fight — but the report considers the possibility that Iraq might
try to intervene with troops, who would be destroyed by the Israeli Airforce.
It also states that Egypt could invade the Sinai peninsula, forcing Israel to

Senator Urges Bush to Move Embassy
to Jerusalem

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Senator Charles Schumer of New York urged
President Bush (news - web sites) on Monday to begin plans to move the
U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. ``We put our embassy in every
other country...in the area they call their capital,'' Schumer, a Democrat, told
reporters at the proposed site of the embassy in Jewish West Jerusalem. ``Israel
calls Jerusalem its capital, and yet we put the embassy in Tel Aviv.'' Israel's claim t
o all of Jerusalem as its capital is not recognized internationally and only a
handful of embassies are located in the city. Israel annexed Arab East Jerusalem --
which Palestinians want as the capital of a future state -- after capturing
it in the 1967 Middle East war. The U.S. Congress passed a bill in 1995 aimed
at transferring the embassy to Jerusalem by mid-1999, but inserted a clause
that gave U.S. presidents the option of postponing the move, every six
